Perry County Tribune:
Where is “Cahoots” Anyway?

I find it curious that in the professional world if you work with other individuals in a common field toward a common goal it is called, “partnering” “networking” “collaborating” and other such positive terms. But what I have seen is that If you are an elected official, and you strive to work with other officials or elected officials across local, state, and federal boundaries; for the benefit of your constituents, you are “in Cahoots.”
On March 10th we had the opportunity through the work of many people to have Ohio’s Attorney General, and Gubernatorial Candidate Mike DeWine spend the day in Perry County and the Buckeye Lake Region. AG DeWine started the day at Buckeye Lake to listen to the challenges and accomplishments of the Buckeye Lake Region Corporation. (BLRC) THE BLRC is a nonprofit group that represents and includes the three counties numerous townships, villages and businesses that make up the Buckeye Lake region.
AG DeWine then traveled to New Lexington for an Opioid round table discussion with Doctors, Nurses and professionals in the health care profession throughout Perry County and the area. Teressa Snider Director of Perry Behavioral Health Choices hosted this very beneficial round table discussion at their Activity Center.
Any time we can be a part of hosting State or Federal officials to Perry County to highlight our issues and needs and to build relationships with those officials is a win for all residents of Perry County. Our use and receipt of State and Federal program funds is nothing less that essential to continuing the current and future level of programs we offer to our citizens of Perry County, in each and every area of service.
The Current Budget for the Perry County General Revenue Fund is $8,816,961.00. We do not have a summary (yet) of the total receipts of State and Federal funds that Perry County groups, organizations and officials are able to bring to Perry County, through the tireless work of all our partners. But I can assure you it greatly exceeds the General Revenue funds we have available to work with.
So back to the original question: I have been to a lot of places in my life, but I’ve never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can’t go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I’ve also never been in Cognito. I heard no one recognizes you there. I have, however been in Sane. They don’t have an airport, you have to be driven there. 😊
