Coffee with Some Commissioners

I am going to guess that most everyone has taken time at some point in life to meet a friend or colleague to talk about mutual interests over coffee or a meal. In 2017 as a new commissioner, I wanted to create an informal setting where I could talk with folks around the county and more importantly listen to folks.

In February of 2017 my second month in office I started “coffee with some commissioners” for just that reason. This is a monthly breakfast meeting that is 100% open to the public. It is a simple concept, let’s get together over coffee and breakfast and talk about the countless great things that are going on throughout Perry County. Being elected to lead our community, I remain dedicated and committed to working and assisting all segments of Perry County. This 7:30am breakfast meeting that gives me an opportunity to listen to good conversations about anything and everything Perry County.

The Breakfast meeting is held at Dodsons on Broadway in New Lexington, a typically the last Tuesday of each month. Each month I invite a featured speaker to present information regarding their organization, event, or activities throughout Perry County.

During the second half hour everyone in attendance has an opportunity to highlight and share information regarding their organization on affiliated events or programs. I seldom present any topics, I would much rather take this time to listen.

The only limitations I put on the conversations is to remain positive! It is not a forum to complain or speak negatively. It is not a forum for campaign speeches. We have so many positive opportunities for good information and activities throughout Perry County, there is no need to have yet another “gripe session “or arguments.
