What did the Perry County Commissioners do with the Federal “Cares Act” money?

I was proud to be part of the Board of  Perry County Commissioners as we had an opportunity to provide some financial relief during the Covid-19 pandemic through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”). The Perry County Commissioners were able to take advantage of these federal dollars and provide financial assistance to a maximum of $10,000 per business to 42 Perry County businesses.  The total amount of distributed funds was $382,656.27.

A question I receive many times as I travel around the county is about broadband internet access for our rural homes and businesses. I received this question from Jennifer Z. through the website and thought it would be helpful for everyone. She wrote: 

“I was wondering if there were any updates about broadband expansion along 22 between Somerset and East Fultonham in Madison Township? I’ve reached out to multiple offices and organizations and I can’t seem to even confirm that that area has anything planned. I can’t find any company that provides service in that area either.”
